BKR 제공 [파이낸셜뉴스] 힙스터의 성지 서울 성수동 골목. 정체를 알 수 없는 붉은 벽돌 건물이 등장했다. 간판은커녕 입구조차 꽁꽁 숨겨져 있어 매장에 들어가기 위해 한참을 헤맸다. 숨겨진 문을 찾아 내부로 들어서는 순간, 버거킹의 '불맛'을 완성하는 핵심 조리 장비인 '브로일러' 안으로 직접 걸어 들어간 듯 햄버거 패티가 된 것 같은 착각에 빠져들었다. 이러한 강렬한 몰입감은 매장 내부를 가득 채운 적벽돌과 숯불 색을 모티브로 한 인테리어 덕분에 한층 더 실감 나게 다가왔다. 이 공간은 버거킹이 서울 성수동에 새롭게 선보인 플래그십 스토어 '플레임그라운드'다. 버거킹은 26일 오프닝 간담회를 열고 세계 최초의 버거킹 플래그십 스토어를 선보이며, 올해 매출 1조 원과 600호점 달성이라는 청사진을 제시했다. 플레임그라운드는 놀이 공간을 뜻하는 '플레이그라운드'와 버거킹의 정체성인 직화(Flame)를 결합한 명칭이다. 70년간 축적해 온 직화 헤리티지를 공간과 메뉴, 고객 경험 전반으로 확장한 전략적 복합 문화 공간으로 꾸며졌다.                    버거킹 플레임그라운드 입구에 전시 작품이 위치해 있다. 사진=박경호 기자                    버거킹 플레임그라운드 내부에 전시 작품이 위치해 있다. 사진=박경호 기자 ■ 패스트 푸드 편견 깨고 파인 다이닝 급 코스 요리 제공 특히 가장 눈길을 끄는 곳은 복도 끝 안쪽에 차분한 분위기로 독립된 '더 개스트로'다. QSR(퀵 서비스 레스토랑) 브랜드의 한계를 깨고 버거를 코스 요리로 재해석한 다이닝 룸으로, 세션당 단 10명의 고객에게만 셰프의 코스 요리를 제공하는 100% 사전 예약제로 운영된다. 버거와 와퍼에 들어가는 구성요소를 해체해 각 요소가 주인공이 되는 코스 요리를 구성했다. 미국 플로리다에서 시작한 와퍼가 한국 성수동에서 완벽한 다이닝 코스로 완성된 것이다. 오직 플레임그라운드에서만 만날 수 있는 전용 메뉴도 공개됐다. 일반 매장에서는 조리할 수 없는 프리미엄 라인업으로 '한국적 풍미', '글로벌', '클래식' 콘셉트를 바탕으로 개발됐다. 'K-큐브 갈비 버거'와 '멤피스 BBQ 버거', 그리고 클래식 샌드위치에서 영감을 받아 얇게 썬 립아이와 치즈를 듬뿍 활용한 '필리치즈스테이크' 등이 입맛을 사로잡을 예정이다. ■ 식사 공간 넘어 체험형 공간으로 진화 단순한 식사를 넘어선 시각적 즐거움도 공간 곳곳에 가득하다. 전이 공간부터 메인 홀, 더 개스트로 룸, 별채에 이르기까지 국내 신진 아티스트 5인과 협업한 작품이 배치됐다. 로봇공학 기술을 활용한 키네틱 디스플레이, 브로일러의 움직임을 소리와 빛으로 표현한 미디어아트, 불꽃과 열기를 형상화한 설치 미술 등이 브랜드의 정체성을 입체적으로 전달한다. 버거킹은 이번 스토어를 기점으로 본격적인 다이닝 브랜드로의 도약을 꾀한다. 이동형 BKR 대표는 "43년 동안 직화를 통해 한국 시장을 사로잡은 버거킹의 노하우를 담았다"며 "이제 QSR을 넘어 다이닝으로 확장하고자 하는 버거킹의 독보적인 색채를 보여주는 공간"이라고 강조했다. 플레임그라운드는 다음달 10일 소비자를 대상으로 그랜드 오픈을 진행할 예정이다.                    버거킹 플레임그라운드 전경. 사진=박경호 기자。    BANGKOK -- A military tribunal in strife-torn Myanmar has sentenced two high-ranking generals to life imprisonment after they were found guilty of high treason, accepting bribes, illegal possession of foreign currency and violating military discipline, state-run media reported Wednesday.The sentences appeared to be the harshest so far for the senior members of the military’s administrative bodies that were set up after the army seized power from the elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi more than 2 1/2 years ago. The country has been in turmoil since then, with widespread armed resistance to military rule. The officers include Lt. Gen. Moe Myint Tun, who had been army chief of staff, served as a member of the military’s ruling State Administration Council and chaired three major economic supervisory bodies. He was sentenced “to suffer transportation” for a 20-year term equal to a life sentence. “Transportation” is an archaic legal term meaning banishment to a remote place, usually a penal colony. Yan Naung Soe, a brigadier general who served as a joint secretary of one of the committees that Moe Myint Tun chaired, received the same prison sentence, according to the Global New Light of Myanmar newspaper. Both were described as former generals in the report, meaning that they had already been dismissed from the army.Last month, the two officers were reportedly detained in the capital Naypyitaw and investigated, following the arrests of scores of private business operators who allegedly bribed Moe Myint Tun and his subordinates. Moe Myint Tun was removed from the State Administration Council in a reshuffle in late September.In a meeting held a few days after the reshuffle, Myanmar's military leader Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing was reported to have told his fellow ruling council members that they had been appointed because they were regarded as trustworthy, and those who abuse their rank would be suspended and punished.。
